Not bad - 11/30/2008
This city is not as bad as your Newark or Trenton, although it does have it's problems, murder rate is up in 08, and the primary gangs around town are the Bloods and MS-13, there are others. although MS seems to be the popular tag on any buildings now in days around town, be carful in town the west end is bad, although I wouldnt trust any parts too much for that matter, one of the oldest hospitals in the state if not the country closed recently, called mulenburg hospital, thats a story all its own, just live happy and be safe, plainfield does have a strong crime watch threfore lets hope thats keeps the crime stats Read More

Not so bad - 8/7/2007
Just like anywhere else, there are good and bad areas in Plainfield. I would be careful on the West End, however the East end has beautiful homes that are in the millions and border some of the nicer towns in New Jersey. There are upper, middle, and lower classes of all stripes. Yes, the West end of town has its issues, but there are plans in place, and if the community works together--new and old residents alike--then Plainfield may just have its chance at renewed Read More

White flight and terrible schools - 9/3/2006
I've been living in Plainfield for three months. The town is outside the white areas. The whites here have mostly moved out, leaving it primarily black lower middle class for the homes and hispanic for the rentals. The schools are terrible-I hear the worst in NJ. The cost of living is on the high side. I want to move and am looking for my next place to live. It seems a matter of time before this place ends up burned out like Detroit, Read More
